Introduction
John Wigle lives in Rockville, Maryland. He currently is the Public Advocate for the American Indian Society of Washington, DC (AIS). A Public Advocate is a person who represents the American Indian and Alaskan Native community at large in matters of public concern such as civil rights, fair treatment, equal opportunity, treaty obligations and religous rights and freedoms. He is also an ordained minister, and fully understands the issues of American Indian Religious Freedom Act. AIS is a non-profit 501(c)(4) tax exempt civic organization. Mr. Wigle by profession is a Senior Information Systems & Telecommunications Engineer for , a federal research and development center. In his spare time Mr. Wigle sings and drums with Spring Creek Singers which is a Northern Powwow Drum. A tape of the Spring Creek Singers is available through Sunshine Records. Look for Spring Creek on the powwow trail this year. GreetingsWelcome. I hope you and your family are in good health. I urge you to stop by the web pages of the American Indian Society of Washington, DC and the Baltimore American Indian Center, and send them an email message. The American Indian Society held its Annual powwow at Urbana, Maryland the first weekend in August this year. And the Baltimore American Indian Center held its annual Baltimore Powwow at the Community College of Baltimore County. AIS and the BAIC are currently planning next year's powwow to be even more successful than this year's. I urge to attend both of powwows next year. It's sure to be a big hit. I always enjoy meeting new people, so if you are in the Baltimore/Washington area as you travel the powwow circuit, call AIS or the Center to say hello. I would also love to hear from others from the Six Nations or any other tribes that might be living or staying here in Maryland. I will be happy to introduce you to people at AIS and the Baltimore center. If you need to reach me, my internet mail address is sekoh@tuscaroras.com or you may contact me via the American Indian Society by telephone toll free at (888) 664-9507. May the Creator bless you and yours with good health. |
