T'ansi! Welcome to my homepage. My name is Catherine. I am 26 years old, of Métis (Cree/French Canadian) descent from Ontario, Canada. I am a Graphic Designer and Illustrator and graduated in 2003 from the Graphic Design & Advertising Program at Conestoga College. I am an artist who enjoys working in many mediums. Please come in and have a look around at some of my work here. You will find links to my different styles of work near the bottom of the page.
Work
Below is some beadwork that I did on a pipe bag that I made. It is done in a classic Ojibwe style.
Below is one of the unique dreamcatchers that I make. The hoop support is brass instead of wood, but the rest is made of buckskin and waxed cotton cord accented with cowrie shells and paint.
Below is the lid of a soapstone jar that I painted with a loon, reflecting a cross between Swampy Cree and Ojibwe styles.
A small buffalo shield. Sterling silver and wood beads, buckskin, buffalo hide, rabbit fur, silver concho and goose feathers. The hoop support is steel. I was inspired to do this after reading the legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman, a Lakota legend. You can read it
here.
