Warfare between Nations

It began from way back before the white man was here in this continent, we had warfare with different Nations. In the eyes of the Creator, it was very sad to see his creation, mankind going against one another. He thought he should send a messenger down to earth to tell them that it was wrong what they were doing. At that time, there was also cannibalism, witchcraft. Not all people practiced that. Also, men were not under control. Not every Nation would want to go against one another but it was always young people who didn't listen.

The Peacemaker

At that time, this boy was born from a virgin mother. This happened near the Bay of Quinte - it's called Deseronto. He lived with his mother and his grandmother, and he was a fatherless child. He was the messenger for the Creator, the Peacemaker. when he grew up, he did all kinds of things before his mother and his grandmother to show his power.

When he was born, his grandmother tried to get rid of him by downing him and burying him; she also threw him in the fire, but he survived every time. From there on, he began to show that he was not just an ordinary man. He was a man that was given power. So as he grew up, he began to tell his mother and grandmother that he was now going to go on a mission to meet the people.

Peace, power and righteousness

And so he told his people of the things that were wrong through the eyes of the Creator He told them about love and respect, and appreciation for the people and that's what they should be practicing. He began to travel what is now called Lake Ontario, and that is where he met the Mohawks. He spoke to the Mohawks of good tidings of peace, power and righteousness. Then when he was able to convince the Mohawks of what good tidings of peace was, he began to elevate the Chiefs, at that time the three principal Chiefs. He was also given help by some of the Mohawk nation. They went on to the Oneidas and elevated three Chiefs there, and on to the Cayugas, and to the Senecas. Later came together all nations into now what is called Onondaga, the central part of what is now called New York State. There they finished up, completing the League of the Five Nations.

He was able to form peace amongst all Nations and also bury the weapons of war so the generations who come will never, ever learn about wars again. They buried their weapons in order to live in peace with all Nations.
